Making History
Cynthia Smith, Associate Professor, CC, History, has been one of two state coordinators of Hawaii History Day for eight years. She organizes teacher workshops, district/state fairs, and judging for entries from grades six through 12; based on historical research and presented in essays, displays and muli-media. The winner competes in National History Day in Maryland. The event helps students gain insight into their relationship to Hawaii's history, while connecting to the community and the world.
