Dr. Ron Takata, Professor, CC, strives to get students interested and motivated in chemistry so that they will learn it on their own. His roles as Associate Director of the Hawaii Space Grant College, instructor in the Space Grant and Future Flight Hawaii educational programs, certified trainer in Operation Chemistry Workshops, and the coordinator for the Western Partnership for Environmental Technology Education's Small-Scale Chemistry Institute at HCC, have enabled him to infuse fresh perspectives and hands-on activities into all of his courses and into the myriad of K-12 and college workshops he conducts. He is a spirited advisor for the Alpha Kappa Iota Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and is actively involved at the chapter, regional and international levels.
