American Studies

American Studies is the interdisciplinary study of American society, culture, and character, utilizing concepts, theories, and insights from history, the social sciences, and literature. Key American novels provide 'windows' into American life, and they are incorporated into the course readings. American Studies 201 and 202 (The American Experience & Diversity in American Life) are under (AHL)- the Arts, Humanities, and Literatures area, and are offerred as Writing Intensive (WI) classes. American Studies 211 and 212 (Contemporary American Issues - Domestic and World) fall under Social Sciences.
