Music
Everyone enters a music course with different expectations. Some want to acquire informed and sensitive listening skills that promote the development of a curiosity about, an enthusiasm for, and an enjoyment of the many types and styles of music. Some may want to study the historical context of a musical work to gain insight into the way its environment shaped it, by approaching it in terms of its social, political and economic contexts. Other students want to experience music by learning how to read and write music, how to play an instrument or to perform in a group with others who have like interests.
