Religion

Honolulu Community College offers a full complement of courses in the academic study of Religion. Both Western and Eastern traditions are fully covered. The modern cultural, social, and scientific study of Religion includes methodological approaches in History, Art, Psychology, Sociology. Politics, Economics, Phenomenology, Philosophy, Hermeneutics, and Biology. The department is committed to an integrated approach.

Whether we think about Religion in regional or global perspectives, we cannot escape the influence of Religion which has and continues to play a major role in setting the practical and theoretical framework in which we function. Most of the major issues in Religion have never been settled. But as we learn more about the origin, sense, meaning and structure of Religion, we generate a more complete understanding and a greater diversity of informed interpretation.
