SPAN 101-102 - Elementary Spanish I-II
Course Description
- Native speakers may not take language courses for credit.
- 101 Prerequisite: ENG 20B & C & D & E OR ESL 11 & 13 & 14 & 17 OR placement in ENG 22/60
- 102 Prerequisite: SPAN 101
Development of listening, speaking, reading, writing. Drill and practice emphasized. Laboratory work required.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of SPAN 101, the student will be able to:
- Write a short passage in present tense about who you are and about your plans for the future
- Read and understand a short passage in present tense
- Listen to and understand a short passage in present tense
- Ask and answer questions in present tense in conversation with classmates
- Appreciate aspects of Latino culture
Upon successful completion of SPAN 102, the student will be able to:
- Write a short passage in past tense about who you are and things you have done in the past
- Read and understand a short passage in past tense
- Listen to and understand a short passage in past tense
- Ask and answer questions in past tense in conversation with classmates
- Use the imperative mood (give positive and negative commands
- Understand and use the subjunctive mood
- Review the present tense
- Appreciate aspects of Latino culture
