MATH 20B - Foundation Math

  • Corequisite: MATH 20C & D

The function of this course is to equip students with the foundation in math and problem-solving skills that allows them to enter their Technical-Occupational and Liberal Arts programs. It also provides opportunity for students already enrolled in programs to strengthen ability in areas of need.

Student Learning Outcomes

Common Fractions:

  1. Compare the sizes of simple fractions to determine their order.
  2. Simplify common fractions and mixed numbers.
  3. Convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and improper fractions to mixed number.
  4. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and mixed numbers.
  5. Solve application problems involving fractions and mixed numbers.

Decimals:

  1. Translate decimal numbers into words and vice versa.
  2. Determine the comparative size of decimal numbers.
  3. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimal numbers.
  4. Round decimal numbers to a given place value.
  5. Solve application problems involving decimal numbers.
