BIOL 171 - Introductory Biology

Course Description

  • Prerequisite: CHEM 151 (or concurrent) or CHEM 161 (or concurrent) or Instructor Approval
  • Corequisite: BIOL 171L
  • Recommended Prep: High School Biology

Introductory biology for all life science majors. Cell structure and chemistry; growth, reproduction, genetics, evolution, viruses, bacteria and simple eukaryotes.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of BIOL 171, the student will be able to:

  • comprehend and apply critical thinking skills in the study of biology
