CHEM 151 - Elementary Survey of Chemistry
Course Description
- Prerequisite: MATH 25 OR placement in MATH 27/103
- Corequisite: CHEM 151L
Intended to provide the beginning student with a non-rigorous, but adequate, background in the fundamentals of chemistry. Suitable for students preparing for training in the life sciences and for those seeking a practical approach to chemistry.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of CHEM 151, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate skills in employing the scientific method.
- Demonstrate understanding of the elements and principles of chemistry.
- Extract practical information from theoretical information, with emphasis on computational skill.
- Demonstrate an appreciation for the impact and influence of chemistry on our lives, and learn how we can cope with our environment using our knowledge of chemistry.
