Meteorology
Meteorology introduces students to the world of weather and climate: solar radiation, pressure, winds, moisture, and weather systems. It has become increasingly clear that weather systems are linked to oceanic circulation patterns (as, for example, in the periodic El Nino cycles), and even to long term geomorphic and biogeographic processes (such as erosion and desertification). Study of the atmosphere is relevant to farming, aviation, and other aspects of culture and technology. Courses offered include a 3-credit lecture course on introductory meteorology basics, and a 1-credit lab course on quantitative and practical aspects of meteorology.
