SSCI 120 - Hawaii's People
Course Description
A survey of ethnic subcultures in America, with emphasis on Hawaii’s ethnic mosaic. The critical framework covers dominant-subordinate relationships in both a historical and modern setting. The processes of prejudice, discrimination, identity, cyclical patterns of ethnic relations, acculturation, assimilation, contention, submission, revitalization and the psychology of racism will be applied to the major ethnic minorities of Hawaii.
