Introduction to Painting
Course Description: Theory and practice of painting: basic material and technical procedures will be addressed. (3 credits)
Recommended Preparation: ENG 22/60 or placement in ENG 100.
Course Objectives and Outcomes: At the end of the course the student should be able to:
Assessment: Student work will be assessed on the basis
of a series of hands-on studio and field assignments designed to provide
specific application of key concepts and technical issues. A final cumulative
portfolio evaluation will also be included. Specific assessment criteria
are provided for individual studio assignments.
Methods of instruction: Teaching and learning will take place through a series of structured studio and field assignments, lecture/demonstrations, and individual and group critiques in which student work is analyzed for its strengths and areas of recommended improvement.
